How long does it take me to get en pointe?
filed in Arts & Humanities on Nov.02, 2009
I used to dance at a studio for about 5years, then i quit for gymnastics. I have kept dancing at home and have been told i’m very good at it. My ankles are very strong and i strengthen them every day. Gymnastics helps a lot with strength. I want to start ballet again. Any idea how long it might take me to get en pointe. I know i have to wait a long time and i am prepared for that, i just want an approximate amount.

it should take 3 years, textbook style. but you should be very strong, so maybe 1-2 years? it depends on flexibility and technique along with training and endurence, so you have to ask your teacher to be sure. id say you should think 2 years.

You should go back to the studio, then ask your teacher

it all depends on how strong ur ankles are. ask ur teacher for a ankle assesment. But never go on pointe without a teachers permission because u could break ur ankles.. hope this helps a little. x
